After much discussion it was decided that this event will be different from our past events. Due to the dates falling on the MC Birthday and Veterans Day it was decided that with so many attractions in the DC area we would not sponsor any events other then arranging a visit to the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico, VA . Our guests should select their own Itineraries.

The Bests Western Iwo Jima is the same facility we stayed at for the “Team Breaker” Arlington National Cemetery funeral in 2005. However, the hotel has been fully updated since Best Western’s purchase. We have negotiated an excellent room rate of $104.99 plus tax, Wednesday – Saturday. For those attendees having special needs, please indicate when making your reservation. For those who desire to come early and/or stay later, the “normal” billing rate will be accessed.

• Reserve your room ASAP by calling the Best Western Rosslyn Iwo Jima directly at (703) 524- 5000 before 10/9/2010. Be sure to ask for the Reservation Department and mention ‘Alpha Recon Association’ to be booked with our group to obtain these rates. After 10/10/2010, our room block will be released and unsold rooms will go to regular registrations. Rooms available are 2 Qeens or 2 Doubles.  If nescessary there are a limited additional rooms available but we must know very early to add on to our room block.

• We will be car pooling to this event (approximately 36 miles from DC) and plan to depart  around 0900 on Thursday with return time optional. Please note on your registration form whether you will be driving (and have space available for others) or whether you (and your guests) will need a ride. We are told that this museum embodies the history of the Marine Corps in the finest of traditions. We are planning on a guided tour.

It is strongly advised to register with the hotel ASAP. We have a sufficient number of block of rooms, however, if turnout is greater than the initial projections, we will have to know three months out to obtain additional rooms. This hotel generally is at full capacity most nights. There is no immediate draw on the credit card to reserve the room . • 11/12/2010 Friday Carpool to the National Museum of the Marine Corps , Quanitico VA
• 11/13/2010 Alpha Company business meeting (0900 - 1100). Afternoon and evening free time.
• 11/14/2010 Sunday departure
